Laurel Halo presents the original soundtrack to Julian Charrière’s film Midnight Zone—a luminous descent through the Pacific’s Clarion‑Clipperton Fracture Zone, where a drifting Fresnel lighthouse lens reveals the deep as a fragile, teeming biome. Halo’s score traces this underwater journey in long, immersive passages of electro‑acoustic ambient, drone, and tactile sound design. Composed primarily on a Montage 8 synthesizer and Yamaha TransAcoustic piano, and layered with violin and viol da gamba, the music resonates with an uncanny physicality—synthetic waveforms sung through wood and strings—patient, submerged, and alive. Midnight Zone becomes a sonic drift between what we seek to extract, fail to understand, and must protect.
